Life Changing. Community Impacting. God Glorifying.

We are about people -- people who are growing in passion for God and love for other people. We strive to be a healthy church family that is Christ-centered, Bible-based and Spirit-directed. Our mission is to see lives changed and our community impacted as we glorify God.

Who we are

Friends Church was the first church in Citrus Heights. We have connected people to Christ, served families, helped start new churches and sent missionaries all over the world since our founding. We may not be the largest church in the area, but we seek to make a large impact in our community and world.

At Friends Church, you matter to us, because you matter to Jesus. All that we do is designed to meet people’s needs right where they are. Whether you are just starting to investigate the claims of Christ, or already enjoy a personal relationship with God, we have something for you. Let’s share our journeys together!

At Friends Church, you will find straight answers about God, life, family, career and relationships right from the Bible. Our 10AM Sunday Worship Service has a blend of classic and modern worship music. Our people are warm and friendly. We seek to connect people with God each week through an inspiring, reflective and relevant service. However, we are not only a Sunday Church, we desire to live our faith daily and provide all kinds of avenues to do that. You will find Friends Church to be a place where you can grow in your relationship with God no matter what age you are.

We are part of Evangelical Friends Church Southwest (EFCSW) which is a network of churches filled with people who believe that we are better together than we are by ourselves. We share work together to fulfill the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment. Together, we help each other serve one another and reach out to our communities. More info

Core Values

BIBLICAL TRUTH

We are committed to sharing and growing in the knowledge of God and becoming passionate followers of Jesus as we explore together God's Biblical truth.

We value the Bible, as God’s revelation and our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We live in Christ because of its saving message of salvation through Jesus, our Lord and Savior. This value gives us respect for the authority of Scripture, a love for the teaching and preaching of the Bible and an intense desire to obey its teachings.

Along with the written Word of God we value the Holy Spirit of God, who inspired the Scriptures and illuminates our understanding. We believe that He teaches us to obey all that Jesus commanded, and grants us grace and power to live out the Word of God in daily life. Jesus said, “You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” (John 5:39-40) We value the written Word because it leads us to the living Word, Jesus Christ. True spiritual leading never contradicts Scripture.

AUTHENTIC LOVE

RADICAL PRESENCE AND RELIANCE

We are committed to the present ministry and communion of Christ whenever, where ever, whomever is present. We have high expectation of the active presence of Christ in all life and seek sensitivity and yielding to the Holy Spirit’s movement, empowering, and prayer.

CULTURAL RELEVANCE

We are committed to glorifying God by intentionally engaging our community in creative ways and eliminating traditional barriers to Biblical community. We avoid putting people on pedestals and desire people to be free to be themselves.

TRANSFORMING WORSHIP

We are committed to experiencing God's transforming power in worship and praise, through culturally relevant worship experiences that bring biblical responses to life's everyday challenges. We are committed to worship lifestyles of joyful celebration, creative expression, and increasing reliance upon God. We see Worship as the adoring response of the heart and mind to the influence of the Spirit of God. It stands neither in forms nor in the formal disuse of forms: Style is only important in as much as relevance is considered.

GIFT-BASED SERVICE

We are committed to equipping people to serve God by discovering their gifts and encouraging them to humbly use these gifts by serving our neighborhood, our world, and our church in team-based ministry.

REAL RELATIONSHIPS

We are committed to encouraging authentic spiritual relationships that promote healing, life change and spiritual growth, across traditional barriers such as status, age, ability, race, ethnicity, or gender.

REPEATED MULTIPLICATION

We are committed to local, regional and global impact. Therefore we are actively involved in compassion ministries, church planting, short term missions and global missions. Because we believe John 15:16, which says, “You did not chose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last,” we measure success by multiplication and not just addition growth. We are not interested in numeric growth for numeric growths sake, but to the Glory of God alone.
